How to choose an ISP?

All providers offer a range of services, but some just provide Internet and email, while others offer more comprehensive packages.

The trend among service providers is to adopt a flat rate pricing model, charging a fixed monthly rate for a fixed number or hours. Flat rates are useful if you don't know how many hours you are going to consume each month.

If you are not happy with your Internet service provider, you can change. If you decide to change your ISP, you should do so one or two days prior to the date of your next billing period. ISPs do not usually refund or transfer any credit you might have from the previous billing date.

Questions you might ask when choosing an ISP:

- What plans do you offer?

What is the extent of your coverage?

- Is there National Coverage?

- How can I pay?
- Will I get sent a bill?
- How often will I get billed?

What support do you offer?

- Do you have a telephone help-desk?
- Is it free?

Email

- How many email addresses can I have?
- What will my address be?

Speed

- What kind of speed will I get?
- Can I connect anytime?
